A Staged Reading
A graffiti on a statue, a boy meeting a girl, a discussion about art lead to a troubling spiral of events. How far would you go for love? For art? What would you be willing to change and risk? Which price might you pay? Such are the haunting questions explored in The Shape of Things. Contrasting a young student’s relationship with an arts major with that of his two best friends, Neil Labute blurs the lines between daring and destructiveness, art and life, right and wrong, leaving the audience to reexamine their own standpoint(s).
Theatre Language Studio isn’t able to fully produce all the many exciting plays in the world, so with our staged reading series, we offer audiences and actors a glimpse into the world of new and interesting work, hopefully without losing any of the pleasure of a full production. We invite our audience to stay after the reading for a talk-back discussion of the piece with the actors and directors.
