Improv Jam: Long Form Face-off – La Ronde
We are changing up our monthly jam to introduce a bit of friendly competition. Many may enter, but only a few will leave… Laughing!
Every other month we invite our improvisation friends of all levels to join us as we split into teams for a Short Form Showdown or Long Form Face-off. This month is our Long form face-off jams where two teams will perform the same long form format, friendly competition style. Some guidance will be given for improvisers who are new to longform! Audience members are allowed for these special jams. Still free, only more fun!
La Ronde – About the format:
French for ‘The Round’, this is a character based format which was inspired by a play of the same name by Arthur Schnitzler. It is a series of two-person scenes, which follows this pattern:
Character A is in a scene with Character B, then B with C, C with D and so on until the final scene, when A returns to play with the last character.
Each actor plays only one character, but the goal is to explore other sides to that same character with the second scene. Therefore each new scene is in a new location, and may have little to do with the previous scene.
